Mission Statement
Promoting community development and urban revitalization through human and infrastructural development.

Community Development
Community development activities build stronger and more resilient communities through an ongoing process of identifying and addressing needs, assets, and priority investments.

Community development activities may support infrastructure, economic development projects, installation of public facilities, community centers, housing rehabilitation, public services, clearance/acquisition, microenterprise assistance, code enforcement, homeowner assistance and many other identified needs.

Redevelopment
Provides staff support assisting the Evansville Redevelopment Commission in the coordination and execution of redevelopment or economic development activities. 

Historic Preservation
The Historic Preservation Officer as well as the members of the Historic Preservation Commission work collaboratively to strengthen local preservation activities by providing public education and outreach on various preservation issues and topics, promoting awareness and stewardship of local buildings and cultural resources, addressing federal review requirements such as Section 106, considering appropriateness of work for designated buildings and properties located within the city’s two historic districts, as well as fulfilling other duties enacted under local and state ordinances.
