FIRE PREVENTION DIVISION MISSION STATEMENT:  The Evansville Fire Department values the citizens it serves by leading the way with fire prevention, education, community risk reduction, programs, and investigation services to the City of Evansville.  The Fire Prevention Education Division values a strategy that is centered on educating its citizens about safety.
 

The Evansville Fire Department will provide fire prevention/community risk reduction, and fire extinguisher classes for your organization, or neighborhood association. All requests should be made at least 30 days in advance. The Evansville Fire Department receives hundreds of requests annually. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate them all.

Classroom presentations requirements:

  • A pre-class site visit from EFD
  • An appropriate classroom with seating, ideally some lighting control, and an electrical outlet
  • Contact information must be provided
  • Class size/time is flexible and may be limited
     

Fire Extinguisher class requirements:

  • A pre-class site visit from EFD
  • 5 gallons of water for every 25 people
  • 20 lbs. (grill size) propane cylinder 
  • Outside open airspace to set up fire training system
  • Contact information must be provided
  • Alternate date(s) in case of inclement weather
  • Class size/time is flexible and may be limited
